Futuremark® OverclocKing 2008 Provides a Glimpse of the Potential of Future ASUS Motherboards

The inaugural Futuremark® OverclocKing 2008 competition drew to a close with the announcement of the winners after an intense online battle amongst over 16,600 participants worldwide, establishing it as the largest gathering of overclockers in competition ever held. The event also threw a spotlight on the overclocking capabilities of ASUS motherboards, specifically the ASUS Striker II Extreme, which was the weapon of choice for the top two overclockers throughout the 14 days of intense competition.

ASUS Motherboards—Built For Overclocking Performance
In the 14 days of fierce competition, two contestants emerged from the rest as true overclocking champions, with the "thechosenwon" posting a score of 29,409—therefore clinching the title of Futuremark® OverclocKing 2008 champion—and "giorgioprimo" making his mark in a close second place with 28,779. After pushing their ASUS Striker II Extreme motherboards to the limit and posting their overclocking results online through the Futuremark® Online Result Browser (ORB), they were able to show the rest of the overclocking scene their capabilities and the massive overclocking potential of ASUS motherboards.

As the recommended competition hardware for the Futuremark® OverclocKing 2008, a smorgasbord of ASUS motherboards were used throughout the competition. Amongst them, the ASUS Striker II Extreme managed to post performance scores close to the latest range of motherboards from ASUS that support the newest Intel® Core™ i7 Extreme processor. The ASUS Striker II Extreme went on to lead a field that included the ASUS P5Q PRO, ASUS Rampage Formula, ASUS P5Q, and the ASUS P5Q Deluxe. This not only demonstrated the superior overclocking potential of all current and future motherboards from ASUS, but also provided a glimpse of the limitless possibilities and extreme performance that future ASUS hardware can provide to end-users.
